Stone Still
8" x 10" Acrylic Hand Painted on Turkey Feathers
10" x 12" Framed in Wood

Nature has many means for preservation of species. Newborn fawns instinctively know to freeze when spotted in the wild making them difficult to be seen. When you see a fawn face-to-face, you would swear you were viewing a stone statue because they are so still. Fawns have no scent for several days after birth, which also helps them hide from predators. In a wood's scene with trees, grass, and underbrush - you rarely see a fawn due to its perfect camouflage, but when you do stumble onto one you will remember huge hauntingly beautiful eyes. Fawns are the perfect expression of soulful innocence. |
