Bruce Sanford Day's introduction to the world of fine art painting began at the age of six years old. The Day's moved into the house built by his Grandfather who had planted an orange ranch in Orange County, CA in 1908. Bruce's grandfather was a classically trained artist and his studio at the ranch remained untouched after his passing. Bruce spent many hours in the studio "playing artist" while copying Grandfather Day's drawings and paintings with his school pencil and paper.

Bruce's grandmother recognized his love for drawing and encouraged his progress by providing him with art supplies. Bruce Sanford Day's first "job" as an artist came at the age of ten when his grandmother's pastor had him do color chalk drawings from the bible for his sermons.
